Bunny Tales And Easter Eggs

Have you ever considered where the myth of the Easter Bunny came from? I mean really, do the Easter Bunny and colored eggs really have anything to do with Jesus's resurrection? The answer is "no". The tradition of the Easter Bunny dates back to the 13th century and comes from pre-Christian Germany. The pagan people of the period idolized several gods and goddesses. The goddess of spring and fertility was known as Eostra, which is where the name Easter comes from. In most cultures, spring is the time for new birth. As a result of this, Eostra's image was the rabbit. The rabbit indicates fertility since rabbits are well renowned for their large rate of reproduction. In time, this representation of Eostra lead to other myths and in the 1500s, the earliest account of the Easter Bunny was published. Now since you know where the Easter Bunny originates from you are possibly asking yourself about the origin of the eggs. Eggs have been a sign of fertility for ages and were likely included in early pagan festivals of spring. As Christianity became more popular in Europe and in Germany, old pagan traditions began to combine with new Christian holidays. Today, we recognize that Easter eggs signify Jesus's resurrection. Over the years the Easter Bunny chronicle developed even further and grew to be what we know it as today. Similar to the fable of Santa Clause, German parents would say to their children that if they were well behaved the Easter Bunny would come and lay eggs that that could be traded for sweets and various treats. The tradition developed of making nests for the eggs and these nests ultimately transformed into the splendid colorful Easter baskets that we have today. The tradition of the Easter Bunny first arrived in the USA in the 1700s when German immigrants arrived in Pennsylvania. Nowadays, this Easter myth is a common piece of our traditions along with hundreds of other traditions which come from the roots of our immigrant ancestors. fruit and cheese gift basketIf you'd like to play the Bunny this spring, purchase a gift basket such as our Monet's Fruit and Cheese Basket for somebody you love. valentine gifts in Fort Collins

Love likely the most potent word in any language. This tiny one syllable word has resulted in warfare, betrayal, and lunacy, but it has also been the cause of harmony, unanticipated thrills, and unparalleled inspiration. How can it be that a force that is usually so positive can direct us to such bad? The French, acknowledged for love, have many captivating love stories to tell. Take the story of the sculptor Rodin and his apprentice Camille Claudel. Claudel worked for Rodin when they began their affair. His refusal to leave his wife for her made Claudel insane and she destroyed quite a lot of her pieces of art during bouts of paranoia a symptom of her schizophrenia. Claudel spent the last 30 years of her life in a hospital. How can a thing that can direct someone to such bouts of despair be the one thing that we all seek in this life? On the other hand, let us consider another french couple. Voltaire and Emilie du Chatelet carried on a 15 year long romance which was scorned by the people, but permitted by Chatelet's husband, the Marquis Florent-Claude du Chatelet. Chatelet and Voltaire shared a strong scholarly bond and spent time philosophizing together, accumulating books for their library, and sharing suggestions on each other's work in mathematics and science. Their shared values and devotion to each other fueled their love even after she died. Upon her death, Voltaire wrote of Chatelet, "It is not a mistress I have lost but half of myself, a soul for which my soul seems to have been made." Regardless of her arranged marriage to the Marquis, the affection between Chatelet and Voltaire was tolerated and not envied. They were the topic of contempt but were allowed to live their lives together in shared respect. Their story reveals love in its ideal form. In my point of view, love is the sole thing worth living for. valentine day giftWhether it's love of kin, love of something, or love for a significant other, without love life is trivial. Maybe that is why love can force us to such extremes. For many, love is worth dying for. For many, it is worth living for. As Valentine's Day gets closer love is on everyone's minds. I wish each and every one of you a blissful love story packed with all the best love may bring and none of the worst. A Valentine's Day Reminder For Guys

A Valentine's Day Reflection Love... likely the most potent word in any language. This tiny four letter word has sparked conflict, betrayal, and insanity, but it has also been the cause of tranquility, unanticipated thrills, and unparalleled imagination. How does it come to be that a thing that should be so wonderful can steer us to such evil? The French, well-known for romance, have many fascinating love stories to tell. For example, the story of the sculptor Rodin and his sweetheart Camille Claudel. Claudel sculpted for Rodin when they began their affair. His unwillingness to leave his wife for her drove Claudel insane and she smashed A good deal of her pieces of art during periods of paranoia which was a result of her schizophrenia. Claudel spent the last 30 years of her life in a hospital. How can a thing that can direct a person to such intense levels of grief be the one thing that we all seek out in this world? However, let us consider another french couple. Voltaire and Emilie du Chatelet shared a 15 year long love affair which was frowned upon by the public, but allowed by Chatelet's husband, the Marquis Florent-Claude du Chatelet. Chatelet and Voltaire shared a healthy intellectual link and spent time philosophizing together, gathering books for their library, and offering suggestions on each other's findings in mathematics and science. Gift Giving With An Italian Feast

I highly doubt I know anyone who does not like Italian cuisine! Who doesn't enjoy the smells of rich tomato sauce, warm onions, and newly made bread? If anyone excels at comfort food, it's the Italians! Regrettably, I do not have a single ancestor from Italy, but despite this, that does not mean I do not adore the customs, language, and naturally the cuisine and red wine. Since I myself am not from an Italian family, I am intrigued by the ceremony and customs that envelop an Italian table. I have researched typical Italian table etiquette and have decided to reveal a few of them here. To begin with, before sitting down at the table, any newby should understand that an Italian meal is not a swift event, but can potentially last as many as three hours. This means, take a seat, relax, and savor your food at a steady pace. It is traditional for each invitee to bring a favorite plate to contribute. What this means is there might be as many as ten courses in a night. At this point I would like to offer a word of warning not to help yourself too much too fast. With such a selection different dishes to taste it is smart to save room for a little bit of everything. Make sure you arrive on time! In the kindest of Italian customs, no one will eat until every last guest has arrived. In order not to inconvenience everyone else, make sure not to be late. italian new home basketThe most important advice I can give you is to let go of any stress you have and just thoroughly indulge in the meal! Italians will generally rest seated at the table long after they have finished eating solely to take pleasure in each others company. I can't think of a better way to kick back and shrug off the heavy problems of each and every day! Now I'm sure after reading this you are going to want to head to the nearest Italian restaurant or call your closest Italian friend and invite yourself over for dinner. Another choice for a deep Italian yearning is to order in... by that I mean purchase an Italian Gift Basket on the web from Baskets By Rita. This Italian Housewarming Gift Basket is a good way to say welcome, thank you, or Happy Holidays! It contains organic pasta, pasta sauce, Italian wafer cookies, artisan breadsticks, herb cheese spread, summer sausage, green olives, almonds, and espresso candy. Since we've already decided that everyone delights in Italian cuisine, how could you possibly go wrong? http://www.basketsbyrita.com/Italian-Gift-Basket-_p_405.html

College Students Love Halloween Gifts

Since the 1800's, American citizens have recognized Thanksgiving by replicating the concept of the pilgrims and the Indians seated together for a friendly meal. As beautiful as this vision of unity may be, it is not the reality. The story of pilgrims and Indians was one of unwelcome friendship. while the Indians supplied the pilgrims with goods and education to survive their first winter the pilgrims gave thanks to them by antagonizing and striking them. halloween gift basketEven though this is not what we like to picture as we join together to celebrate with our relatives and buddies, perhaps it offers a new aspect to the season. The pilgrims were unappeasable and immoral. They took from the Indians and repaid them in the most severe ways possible. Perhaps instead of emulating the dreamy story of the pilgrims and Indians as companions each Thanksgiving, we should consider on the unfaithfulness the Indians endured at the hands of their "friends" the pilgrims. Now I don't mean that Thanksgiving should be a formal day of contemplation and remembrance, but maybe we should take the opportunity to consider our own relationships. Of all the things we offer thanks for on Thanksgiving, the men and women we love should be at the very top. Thanksgiving is not only a time for us to discuss our many blessings with those closest to us, but to show our appreciation for their devoted friendship. This Thanksgiving you might think of giving a little something special to convey your appreciation. Why not thank your friends and family for their love and support by delivering them a Halloween Gift Basket from Baskets By Rita? Birthday The Gift Of Life

A few days ago I received fantastic news... I am going to be an auntie (again)! One of my lifelong friends just determined that she's having a baby and in about six months we will all be greeting a newborn baby into this world. The minute she gave me her news I started thinking about a baby shower, welcome gifts, and all the playthings, diapers and outfits that this Child is going to require. I commenced looking on the web for presents to welcome a new newborn and I stumbled across the Bearington Baby collection from Bearington Bear. Bearington Bear has been in business for 14 years and in that limited time they have won more design awards and nominations than any other teddy bear Organization. Not only are their products appealing and soft, but they are made to last. I was intrigued by these features. I don't think there's anything more special to a infant than their favorite teddy bear or security blanket. Often, by the time the child turns six, the teddy bear or security blanket which they've hung on to since birth is so used that it becomes an eyesore that mama would rather not keep around. This is quite sad when you consider all the excellent memories these cuddly items call to mind. Not to mention the security they give to the little child. I believe that paying a higher price on a plush toy that will last far longer is worth every penny. I truly cannot think of a nicer keepsake for my friend than to give her first kid a cuddly keepsake that will still be around long after the child has outgrown it. Baskets By Rita recently began selling products by Bearington Baby and they have designed several adorable baby baskets which include Bearington products. Baskets By Rita carries filled with a blanket, a bib, a onesie, and a teddy bear for under $100. new born baby boy giftsIn addition you can select Posh New Born Baby Boy Gift Basket Posh Dot Bearington Bear Collection boys new baby gift will truly impress the new parents.
