A Gift Mother’s Day as we know it is a pretty recent holiday, though it is not a “Hallmark holiday” created to sell more cards. There are a number of Mothering day or mommy-focused holidays in history like Mothering Day in the UK, Cybele in ancient Greece, or Mothering Sunday in much of Europe. Mother’s Day was invented by Anna Jarvis in 1912. Mother’s day was expressly chosen to be a singular possessive meaning it was suitable for each family to respect their mother, not plural possessive that would be used to remember all the mothers of the world. Following congressional approval, It was officially acknowledged on May 9, 1914 when president Woodrow Wilson made the official notification proclaiming Mother’s day as a national holiday to be celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of May. Mother’s Day has ultimately observed by many other countries and cultures. In many cases, the date was changed to fit established celebrations or to assort with with a significant date in which the majority are based on religion. Because of this, Mother’s Day is celebrated in February in Norway and on December 22nd in Indonesia, with a great many other dates in between celebrated by other people. One of the traditions of Mother’s Day is to give your mother a gift along with best wishes as a way to honor her. If you live in the area (and are visiting your mom regularly!) you most likely have a great idea what to buy her. However, those of us that don’t live in the area can be at a entire loss. Consider the things Mom loves a perhaps send her a present with that concept. Gift baskets are outstanding when it comes to gifts with a theme. If your mom plays golf there are golf themed gift baskets. Possibly she is into tea and relaxation then buy a nice tea baskets or a relaxing pamper gift basket. Maybe she take pleasure in fine wine and you know she likes red wine or white wine or even champagne. There are a lot of great wine gift baskets to select from that feature wine so that would make a ideal Mother's day basket. The options are many and what a gift baskets does, is provide you with a nice variety of goodies that she will have fun with with the theme she will appreciate. Rather than sending kitchen gadgets yet again this year, you could possibly consider a Candle and Bath Gift Basket. This gift basket has a high quality Soy candle and Spa quality bath products that will impress and delight that special someone. Beautifully wrapped and tied with a bow and butterfly. A glass jar soy candle, our Body Eclipse (this product is used in the Brown Place Spa) 8oz and 2oz Body wash, 2oz Exfoliating Body Polish, 8oz and a 2oz lotion, fragrant sachet, a nylon bath sponge, Spa peppermint foot gel, and two votive candles with a glass holder. Another thing to think about here is the useful factor. What I mean by this is quite a few of the gifts that you give your Mother are either unnecessary or something she will never us. So, consider something green, useful and best of all reusable. The green and reusable is the container which could be a reusable basket or also a 100% recycled reusable shopping bag. The useful is the great gourmet foods or the high quality lotions and soaps in the basket. Why not send her something unique and amazing this Mother’s day! Even if you live far away or in the same town these gifts can be delivered. Happy Mother’s Day! our candle and bath gift basket is a little bit candle basket and a little bit bath gift basket making a perfect combination for relaxation and rejuvenation. Our Soy candles and high quality bath products are included in our bath and candle gift basket. Today's Easter The Meaning
Easter celebrates Jesus Christ’s resurrection, making it the most essential of all Christian holy days. However, in the present day the meaning of the holiday is covered by painted eggs and rabbits. Easter can fall at any time between March 22 and April 25 since is occurs the first Sunday following the full moon. Easter is also connected to the Jewish Passover in symbolism and it’s location in the calendar. What’s with Rabbits and eggs and The Easter holiday? Well the rabbit is a well know sexual icon of fertility. Religions affiliated with Babel relate the rabbit with periodicity, both human and lunar. The Mother Goddess Semiramis (Easter) is related with the moon. Therefore, the Easter rabbit symbolizes the Mother Goddess and is associated with once a year Spring time fertility rituals worshiping the Mother Goddess. Dyed Easter eggs are a part of the celebrations too that came from the egg which was a sanctified symbol among the Babylonians. They assumed that a fantastic size egg fell from heaven into the Euphrates River from which the Goddess Semiramis was born. It is something to think about how many of us genuinely think about the correct meaning of this holiday apart from the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It has developed to be another retail holiday and over commercialized. However, it is a time for families to come together and enjoy the day. Kids love Easter for the Easter Baskets, candy and most of all the egg hunting which could take on a life of it’s own. Family member that are separated by geography many times send A Survival Gift Basket to their loved ones. Grandparents send Filled Easter baskets for Kids to grandchildren. Daughter and sons mail Family Easter Basket to parents and sisters and brothers far away. Our themed survival gift basket is a perfect gift to help shed the stress of the season. Love Creations That Impress Your Lover
Love is in the air and in the Chocolate around the middle of February. Every Valentine’s Day it appears like people give the very same thing. A box of chocolates, a cheesy teddy bear, spa products, sexy undies, jewelry, it’s all so predictable! While nearly all people wouldn’t complain about obtaining a gift from someone they love, there must be more personal ways of proving your love and affection. If you feel like your gifts are becoming gushy from year to year and you want to step it up a notch, why not make something yourself that says that you took the time to create something that comes from your heart. Not only will this mean more, but it will be unique and genuinely convey your feelings in a way that no greeting card can. Here are some ideas that will show you really care. You could Create a coupon book that they can redeem at any time. Include coupons for a free massage, dinner and a movie, a night out at a fancy restaurant, or a day exempt from cleaning. Each coupon should be an opportunity for you to show them you love them by pampering them or cutting them some slack and giving them a chance to relax. These are great ways to show that special someone how much you really care on that one day of the year declared I love you day. There are lots creative ideas for creating romance without spending lots of money such as Make your own chocolate covered strawberries. Dip strawberries in dark, milk, or white chocolate and cover them in sprinkles, chocolate chips, cinnamon, or cookie crumbs. You can also leave them plain for a more classic take. Lay them out on a nice tray in the bedroom, living room, or kitchen and enjoy them together I love Valentines day with all this positive energy of love and romance and caring. If all else fails you could Spend time together. Whether you plan a weekend getaway to a resort and spa or just plan a night alone on the couch, the most important thing you can give to the person you love is your time and attention. Let them know that no matter what you’re doing together, they are the most important person in the world. A friend recently told me that he sent a gift basket to his wife last year for Valentine’s day and she loved it because it contained things that you don’t find in most stores. Great gourmet chocolates, flavored nuts, wine, olives and more great chocolate. It made him look really good and this very romantic holiday. I could have sent him a Valentine's Gift For Your Men. Show your man you care with this classy upscale gold and black striped gourmet gift box. It's filled with all his favorite snacks and a small teddy bear that say's 'I love you more than Chocolate!', Honey roasted peanuts, beef jerky, Chocolove milk chocolate bar, cheddar cheese, crackers, beef summer sausage, buttered popcorn, tortilla chips, medium salsa, chocolate chip cookies, and cinnamon bears. If these ideas have sparked your interest or given you a good starting point for planning out your Valentine’s Day, please pass this along via Facebook or Twitter. College Care Packages Ahh
College Care Packages with Love When I was a teenager my parents would send me off to camp for the summer. The one thing I looked forward to more than letters from friends was a care package from my parents. Some girls got a care package each week packed with junk food, random crap that would make us laugh, and pictures. Even though I did not receive a package each week like some of the luckier campers, I treasured the packages I got more because they were more unexpected and much better created. Since my mother owns a gift basket company, my care packages were never carelessly tossed into a cardboard box, but instead were presented in a decorative basket wrapped in bows. Not only was the presentation incomparable, but my mom’s company has access to products which you can’t buy off the shelves in your local super store. My packages were always packed with gourmet food such as fresh fruit, exceptional chocolate bars, various snack mixes, tea and hot chocolate, and one of a kind cookies and candies. I would always share my baskets with my friends and for years after, my camp friends would ask me where my mom had found specific delicacies that they had only ever found in the contents of my camp care packages. Two months ago I moved out east for school after twenty one years of living in the same state as my parents. Although real homesickness hasn’t set in yet, it has been hard being apart from my friends and family and there are days which are harder than others. A few weeks ago I got a surprise package. I tore the box open to find a gift basket much like the ones my mom used to send me at camp. It contained ‘energy’ jelly beans, fruit and nut mix, gourmet chocolate bars and cookies, some of the best granola bars I’ve ever had in my life, and my bike bell which I had left behind at my parents’ house. It was the most welcome taste of home I could have hoped for and it reminded me that no matter how far from home you are, your family is always there to take care of you. It was the most wonderful surprise I’ve gotten in a while and it reminded me that my family is proud of my accomplishments and goals. As you get ready to send your student back to school this fall, think of the little things you can do to remind them that you care for them. Visit Baskets By Rita’s website to see our collection of care packages including our Oh The Places You'll Go Gift Basket which is the perfect gift for you to show your student how proud you are of them. Oh the Places You'll Go book by Dr. Seuss is the theme for this celebration basket that is great for all ages. For that special person in your life, help them celebrate with our willow basket filled with Dr Seuss book, Colorado Popcorn Company gourmet flavored popcorn, Brent and Sam's gourmet cookies, Ghirardelli chocolates, Nune's mixed nuts, Themed Snack Mix, and other great assorted gourmet treats. Whether for a birthday, graduation, or just because you miss them, a Baskets By Rita gift is the perfect gift for any student who needs a sentimental reminder of home.

Valentine's Beer to Say Be Mine
Everyone knows that Valentine’s Day is the time to communicate your love to your boyfriend. The problem is that it can be certainly very difficult for you women to figure out what to give to your guy. You could always get something hot for yourself and use this as your present to him, but for some lovers this just won’t work. jewelry is the customary gift, but seriously, women like these presents more than your guy does. You could buy him an a new bike, but then you might not hear a word from him for the next two weeks. So, with that in mind what are your other options? Let beer be the answer! I’m fairly confident he will think it’s a awesome gift. Now, don’t just go purchase a six-pack of any normal beer and present it to him in a brown paper bag; only other guys can be so not groovy.
Instead, start up your computer and search for basketsbyrita.com and order a Valentine beer tub to be shipped to his work. This will cost a bit more than that stand alone beer, but it will be SO worth it. Imagine his great surprise when the courier arrives (or FedEx package) with a Valentines beer tubBeer gift for Valentines day full of awesome micro brews and awesome tasting food items. Make sure to have the gift card says something like “I thought you’d love this almost as much as me. See you tonight! Love.” The work group will be jealous over this present. The women will all be saying “oh, how nice” and the guys will be thinking about what uncool thing their girl friend bought them. You can be sure the guys will be thinking “she really know how to buy the right gift!” We can even put a couple extra chocolates in the tub that he can share with you. If he’s really a very nice guy, he’ll share the beer with you. You won't make him feel bad if he doesn't right? Champagne Celebration For Chirstmas
As a true Coloradoan, I have had my share of white Christmases. I often pity people who have never experienced the beauty of snow falling outside a well lit window with glimmering lights reflecting off the snowy terrain. Christmas decorations always seem more becoming when set upon a snowy white setting. While snow is not essential to have a merry Christmas, fine food is a must! A few of my favorite Christmas treats are hot chocolate, peanut brittle and caramels, cookies, dipped pretzels, caramel corn, candy canes, cheese and sausage, hot coffee, and baked goods. The best thing about all of these goodies is that even if I don’t have the time to make them myself, there are loads of good Colorado businesses which make all these Christmas treats not far from where I live. When I need a pick me up to get me in the Christmas spirit or a quick gift to bring with me to a Christmas party, send to my friends and family across the country, or need a merry table topper for my Christmas table, I sign on to www.basketsbyrita.com and purchase their Colorado Christmas Basket. It contains all my favorite Colorado Christmas goodies, bringing Christmas wishes to my friends and family without the hours of struggling in the kitchen to create all your favorite holiday treats. Our Colorado Christmas gift basket is an annual tradition for over 18 years. A fabulous blend of savory and sweet Colorado favorites are brought together in this holiday green willow basket topped off with a festive red and white candy striped bow: This gift selection is also available in an eco-friendly gift bag. So send your Colorado Christmas basket today to make a great impression. If you’ve found this blog useful or want to spread the word to all your friends, repost this on Facebook or Twitter. At home spa treatment AAH!
A long week of work and courses makes me ready to sit back and take it easy as soon as the weekend arrives. But we all know that the probability of me getting a weekend full of spa like services and peace and quiet is not really probable. Though I’m not working I usually wind up with a number of errands that’s stacked up throughout the week, a house to clean, and a heap of other miscellaneous projects that creep themselves into my life somehow. While I might be able to talk someone into giving me a five minute back rub, I don’t think I’ll have time for a facial and a massage. In this world where we live such fast paced lives, it is almost impossible to sneak away for an hour or two let alone a whole day to just put aside our crazy lives and spend some ‘me’ time. While I can perhaps add in a trip to the tanning salon or a waxing appointment once a month, it’s by no means enough to help me feel like I’ve truly treated myself. When a holiday or a birthday comes around and someone asks me what I want, the first thing that comes to mind is “gift cards” or “a new can opener.” Although these may be wise presents, they are necessities and buying these essentials doesn’t require much sympathy. A present should be a thing you want, not a thing you need. Sometimes we forget our own merit and we need a friend to come in and remind us to take some time for our self. A gift should persuade you to take care of yourself, not help you run yourself further into the ground. Although I can say I wouldn’t have much spare time to arrange a spa appointment even if I received a gift card, I know a few home remedies that will do the trick almost as well. When I find a friend has been working too much and needs a some love, I order them a spa basket from Baskets By Rita to tell them to take a bit of time for their self. Baskets By Rita loads their baskets full of high quality spa products for an all inclusive, at home full spa treatment. The Candle and Bath Gift Basket is a great example of the varieties of products Baskets By Rita includes. This gift basket has a high quality Soy candle and Spa quality bath products that will impress and delight that special someone. Beautifully wrapped and tied with a bow and butterfly.. A gift basket for a woman is the perfect gift basket for any woman. For the person who needs to reduce a little stress and break away from the world for a few hours, order a Baskets By Rita gift baskets for a woman to let them see they’re deserving of a chance to settle down.
